Background Porphyromonas gingivalis, Bacteriodes spp., Capthocynophaga spp. and Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans are bacteries that causes periodontal disease Periodontal disease is treated by eliminating pathogen bactenes through scaling and systemic or local antibiotics. One of the local antibiotics that is effective as a periodontal treatment is Metronidazole gel Objective: To attain the benefits of increased 25% Metronidazole gel application, alginate based towards periodontal pocket in healing periodontal disease scaling Methode. A clinical quasy experiment was done with a one group pre and post test design, with a splint mouth design, one side as a kontrol and the other as an uncontrolled Scaling was done on the uncontrolled side and 1 ml of 25% Metronidazole alginate base topical gel was applied and reaplication was done in the first week, while only scaling was done on the control side. All clinical parameters were observed on the first visit. Clinical parameters such as plaque index, gingival index and bleeding index were reobeserved during the first, second, third and fourth week visit, while pocket depth and clinical attachment level were reassesed during the fourth week visit Result. The was a decrease in plaque index, gingival index, bleeding index, pocket depth and clinical attachment level after scaling in the control and uncontrolled group A decreased in plaque index, pocket depth and clinical attacment level were higher in the uncontrolled group compared to the controlled group This difference is statistically significant No inflamation and bleeding were found in the control and uncontrolled group A significant decrease in gingival index and bleeding index were found in both control and uncontrolled group. Conclusion. There are many benefits in the application of 25% metromdazol alginate base topical gel towards chronic periodontitis patients with pocket depth of 4-6mm.en_US
