Perbandingan Resorpsi Apikal Akar Insisivi Setelah Perawatan Ortodonti dengan Braket Standard Edgewise dan Preadjusted

Abstract

Root resorption (RR) is a serious iatrogenic problem associated with orthodontic treatment. The general factors that caused RR are individual biologic variability and mechanics factors. However, the specific factor that has direct impact against RR after orthodontic treatment is still unrevealed. The aim of this study was to find out the differences grade of RR between four maxillary central incisors after anterior teeth retraction in patients using standard edgewise and preadjusted brackets. Material and methods: The samples of this study are 20 adults (80 upper incisors), 10 people undergo treatment using standard edgewise brackets (5 female, 5 male), 10 people undergo treatment using preadjusted brackets (5 female, 5 male). The evaluation grade of RR using Levander-Malmgren dan Linge-Linge index through panoramic radiography before and after treatment. Mann Whitney test is was used to see the differences in grade between four maxillary central incisors after anterior teeth retraction in patients using standard and preadjusted brackets. Result: There were significant differences in grade of RR between four maxillary central incisors after the retraction of teeth anterior to the patients using standard edgewise and preadjusted brackets (p<0,05). Conclusion: Most of the samples after anterior teeth retraction using standard edgewise bracket will have moderate grade of RR and small grade of RR on preadjusted bracket.
