Sea water ponds are a man-made ecosystem, which is land near the coast
that is dammed with surrounding dikes to form a pool of brackish water. During the
last few years, research examining the diversity of arthropods in the abandoned
silvofishery pond area in Tanjung Rejo Percut Sei Tuan Village has never been
reported. Therefore the authors feel the need to conduct research to determine data
on the diversity of arthropods (mainly from the crustacean class) in the abandoned
silvofishery pond area in Tanjung Rejo Percut Sei Tuan Village. The purpose of
this study was to determine the abundance and diversity of arthropods in abandoned
silvofishery ponds in Tanjung Rejo Village, Percut Sei Tuan District and their
relationship with the physics and chemistry of the waters. The research was
conducted in July and October 2021 and data collection on vegetation and
arthropods was carried out in situ. The results showed that there were 13 species
found with a total of 134 individuals and an arthropod density of 7.44 ind/m² in
pond I, and in pond 2 of 7.14 ind/2 . The arthropod diversity index in each pond has
a different value, namely 2.32 in pond I, and in pond II it is 2.21. The PCA analysis
results obtained showed that the diversity of arthropods at the study site had a
positive correlation with mangrove density, salinity, pH, and temperature.
