    Abstract
    Background: Colorectal carcinoma is carcinoma which found in the colon or rectum. Colorectal carcinoma begins when normal cells in the lining of the colon or rectum begin to change and grow uncontrolly. This change process usually takes many years, but the majority of cases links to genetic factors. Risk for colorectal carcinoma varies in each country and the individual, depending on diet, lifestyle and hereditary factors. Generally these cancer's patients are over 40 years old. Objective: To determine the profile of patients with colorectal carcinoma in the Anatomical Pathology Laboratory FK USU / HAM Hospital, Hospital Dr. Pimgadi, and some private Anatomical Pathology Laboratory in Medan city in 2011-2012. Methods: This study is a descriptive study with cross-sectional research approach ( cross- sectional). This study was conducted with data collection and retrieval of medical records in a laboratory in Medan city, such as: FK USU Anatomical Pathology Laboratory, RSUP HAM Anatomical Pathology Laboratory, RSUD Pimgadi Anatomical Pathology Laboratory, some private Anatomical Pathology Laboratory in Medan city in 2011-2012, with histopathological diagnosis were colorectal carcinoma. All data that met the inclusion criteria included as a sample and riviewed by two pathologists and investigators. Then the results are presented in table form and analyzed with statistical tests for normality using the one-sample test. Conclusion: Colorectal carcinoma most commonly found in over 60 years old, more prevalent in women, the most common sites were in the rectum and colon, the most common diagnosis is adenocarcinomas, especially well differentiated adenocarcinomas
