dc.description.abstract Blending between cellulose derivative fillers (cellulose, cellulose acetate, and cellulose diacetate), requires special processing technique and cannot be carried out conventionally. We have tried a so called Reactive Processing Technique, which is defined as processing procedure of polymeric materials with their additives involving not only physical mixing but also chemical reaction. The reactive processing technique has been used in various polymer technology from mixing, blending, processing, and modification procedures. It is expected that the result of the modification technique is improvement in the polymer's compatibility with the fillers. Characterization of mechanical properties of the polyblends were carried out using tensile strength test, elongation, SEM, DSC, DTA, and FTIR, techniques to provide information in the possibility of application of the polyblends for final products. Biodegradation tests of the polyblends were carried out using soil burrial test and in watery media containing Pseudomonas aerogenosa. Soil burrial test for 60 days showed biodegradation rate of the polyblends than that is watery media containing Pseudomonas aerogenosa. From microscopic measurement, it was shown that after biodegradation the specimens exhibited formation of rougher surface due to action of microorganisme. Decrease of the weight of the specimens.en_US
