Konstruksi Makna Stunting pada Ibu Hamil dan Ibu Menyusui di Desa Suka Maju Kecamatan Tanjung Tiram dan Desa Simpang Kopi Kecamatan Sei Suka Kabupaten Batu Bara

Abstract

The problem of stunting in Indonesia has become the health issue which needs special and responsive handling. The prevalence of stunting in Indonesia is on the rate of 27,67% in 2019 and 30.38% is in North Sumatera. Its indirect effects can decrease the life quality of the next generation in 10 to 15 years ahead. The knowledge of nutrition and stunting is the cause of stunting rate. The objective of the research is to analyze the meaning construction of stunting in pregnant and breastfeeding women at Suka Maju Village, Tanjung Tiram Subdistrict, and Simpang Kopi Village, Sei Suka Subdistrict, Batu Bara Regency. Understanding in the meaning construction is a process when a person organizes and interprets ideas, impression, and response to a phenomenon as the mixture of values, norms, environment, and experience which are packed up in the linguistic form by using words which represent thought. The research uses a phenomenological approach. Stunting is understood by pregnant and breastfeeding women as deficiency in nutrition and simulation in children in a long time which causes the children to have shorter bodies than their peers, having retardation in walking, weak bodies and sily get sick. Understanding stunting is affected by two factors. namely: internal factors in which pregnant ad breastfeeding women's curiosity about stunting, and external factors in which pregnant and breastfeeding women participate in socialization about stunting
