dc.description.abstract | The title of this research is the Influence of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) in Z
Generation in Medan on Cancel Culture and Herd Mentality as the Social Handler of Public Figures
which aims to analyze whether there is the influence of FoMO in Z generation in Medan on Cancel
Culture as the social handler of public figures, whether there is the irifluence of FoMO in
Z generation in Medan on heard mentality as the social handler of public figures, and whether
there is the influence of FoMO in Z generation in Medan on cancel culture and herd (mob) mentality
as the social handler of public figures. This research employs a quantitative approach. It is done
in Medan Area Sub-district with a population of 117,029 and Medan Selayang Sub-district
with a population of 109,926. The samples consist of 52 respondents in Medan Area
Sub-district and 48 respondents in Medan Selayang Sub-district, taken by using cluster random
sampling technique. The result of the research shows that there is a correlation between
FoMO and Cancel Culture (r=0.884 and p=0.000 or p<0.05) so Hol is rejected and Hal is accepted
at the significance level of 0.01. There is a correlation between FoMO and Herd (Mob) Mentality
{r=0.822 and p=0.000 or p<0.05 so Ho2 is rejected and Ha2 is accepted at the significance level of
