This study aims to analyze the communication of the Karo tribe family regarding -stunting through wedding preparations and also to analyze the perceptions of the Karo family in interpreting stunting before marriage in Karo Regency. This study uses a constructivist paradigm with a phenomenological research method. The process of collecting data is carried out through interviews, observation and documentation. The results of this study are: 1). The Karo Tribe family communication carried out in preparing for marriage does not directly intersect with efforts to prevent stunting or fulfill nutrition for prospective offspring. However, when the marriage has taken place plus the pregnancy has occurred, the Karo tribe family is quite intense in communicating with the child/daughter- in-law who becomes the mother-to-be. 2). The perception of the Karo tribe in interpreting stunting occurs through a 3-element process, namely worldview, symbol system and social organization which is influenced by the frame of reference (FOR) and also the field of experience (FOE) in a person, where the condition of stunting is interpreted as a problem in the family, shameful, result of parental failure or something bad that occurs post-wedding, this is driven by the factor of exposure to stunting prevention information during the wedding preparation through pre-conception for prospective brides who have not been optimally accepted by the Karo Tribe family so efforts to prevent stunting during marriage preparation period are not carried out and are considered irrelevant.
