The preparation of Fe3O4/SiO2/TiO2 has been prepared by co-precipitation
method. The preparation process starts from mixing Fe3O4 with aquabidest as a
solvent. Then, the resulting solution is mixed with SiO2 raw material, then added with
TiO2 raw material. The precipitate is washed using ethanol and aquabides. The
resulting precipitate is dried in an oven for 8 hours at T = 80 °C, then crushed with a
mortar until smooth. The characterization in this study included surface morphology
testing using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), crystal structure testing using
X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), magnetic properties using a Vibrating Sample
Magnetometer (VSM), functional group testing using Fourier Transform Infra Red
(FTIR), and methylene blue adsorption testing using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer.
The results of the SEM analysis showed that the morphology was in the form of fine
grains with different sizes and had different particle diameters. From the results of the
XRD test, it was obtained that the crystal diameter in the Fe3O4 sample was 66.39 nm,
the Fe3O4/SiO2 was 51.39 nm, the Fe3O4/SiO2 5% sample was 51.39 nm, the
Fe3O4/SiO2/TiO2 sample was 66.1 nm and in the 5% Fe3O4/SiO2/TiO2 sample of 32.4
nm. The VSM test results stated that the optimum conditions for magnetic properties
were at a concentration of 0% with Ms=21.63 emu/g, Mr=5.33 emu/g, Hc=185 Oe.
The addition of TiO2 causes a shift in the absorption peak observed in the Infra Red
spectrum which indicates that the cross-linking process was successful. Based on the
results of the methylene blue adsorption test, the absorbance value has decreased.
