A clean water production system is very important, the need for an environmentally friendly and efficient clean water production system is increasing nowdays. In this research, an evaporator has been successfully made for the Solar Steam Generator (SSG) system to produce clean water that is environmentally friendly and made of materials that are easily accessible. The SSG evaporator in this study is made of cellulose bonded with Polyvinyl-Alcohol (PVA) and uses a freeze drying method to increase porosity which helps water delivery in the SSG system. To increase the efficiency of the SSG evaporator, activated carbon (AC) is used which has a fairly good absorption rate in visible to infrared radiation. Evaporation rate testing was carried out to determine the effect of adding AC on evaporator performance, an evaporation rate value of 1,39 kgm-2h-1 with an efficiency of 58.56% has been achieved in samples with 3wt% KA. FTIR characterization was carried out to confirm group changes in the sample after the addition of KA and to show infrared absorption in the sample.en_US
