The effect of weight of polypropylene on physical and mechanical particle board using bagasse (Saccharum officinarum L.) and polypropylene grafted maleic anhydrous has been done. It was conducted in three steps. The first is soaking process of bagasse in NaOH 1% for 24 hours then filtered and rinsed until neutral to eliminated lignin and extractive substances marked by qualitative analysis used H2SO4(P) to show black precipitation. The second is polypropylene functionalization with maleic anhydride to form PP-g-MA with reflux method. PP-g-MA was analyzed by degree of grafting, melting point and FT-IR analysis. The PP-g-MA formed has 9.459% .Degree of grafting 166.72 oC melting point used for particle boards adhesive. The third is particle board manufacture which consisted of bagasse, polyprophylene, PP-g-MA, benzoyl peroxide and divinylbenzene with ratios of (50:10:20:2:15)g, (50:20:20:2:15)g, (50:30:20:2:15)g, (50:40:20:2:15)g, and (50:50:20:2:15)g. Physical and mechanical analysis for particle board based on SNI 03-2105-2006 included density, water content, swelling, modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity and surface analysis of particle boards with by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The optimum of particle board values were obtained with variatiob of bagasse, polyprophylene, PP-g-MA, benzoyl peroxide and divinylbenzene with ratios of (50:50:20:2:15)g. Where physical properties ia included density, water content, and swelling successivelyThe mechanical properties particle boards 0.7644 g/cm3, 1.56%,and 0.89% for MoR and MoE that is 123.810 KgF/cm2 and 23214.375 Kgf/cm2 The result of scanning microscopy photograph seen the influence of variation of adhesive to particle board
