    Abstract
This study was conducted to assess the potential of sugarcane α-cellulose (Saccharum officinarum. L) as an acrylic resin denture reinforcement. Sugarcane α-cellulose was used in addition to filler material with weight variation. The research shows that sugarcane α-cellulose can interact with acrylic resin as shown in the test results that have been carried out to get the optimum composition ratio, namely the composition ratio of acrylic resin, liquid and sugarcane α-cellulose is 3: 1: 2. From the results of FT-IR analysis of acrylic resin artificial teeth with alpha-cellulose showed the vibration of wave number 3391.08 cm-1 showing the -OH group, absorption at wave number 2932.24 cm-1 showing the C-H functional group, at wave number 1722.50 cm-1 showing the C=O functional group and at wave number vibration 1137.69 cm-1 showing the C-O-C functional group. Characterisation results show that the addition of sugarcane α-cellulose to the matrix can improve the mechanical properties of acrylic resins, the composition of 2 g sugarcane α-cellulose with the value of the Impact Strength test results obtained of 69.975 J/mm2 and MOE test results obtained with the results of 79.1347 MPa and MOR test results 87.0127 MPa. Morphology on the composite surface tested by SEM obtained particle distribution in a homogeneously distributed matrice.
