dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Chronic suppurative otitis media has various types, and one of them is chronic suppurative otitis media with cholesteatoma Cholesteatoma is a keratinized desquamation of the stratified squamous epithelium originating from an extension of the lesion in the temporal bone. Cholesteatoma is an erosive process that results in the destruction of the structures of the middle ear, resulting in hearing loss in most of the patients. The role of IL-6 has a wide variety ranging from regulating chronic inflammation, autoimmunity, fibrogenesis to endothelial cell dysfunction. Puguntano is known to have phytochemical effects in suppressing inflammation.
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of ethanol extract and Puguntano on the IL-6 of cholesteatoma fibroblast.
Methods: This in vitro experimental study included 5groups of the cholesteatoma fibroblast culture:1 group not given puguntano leaf ethanol extract, and four groups that were given different concentrations of ethanol extract of leaf Puguntano.
Results: The results showed that the results of the analysis using the One Way Anova test found a significant difference in the mean levels of IL-6 between all experimental groups (p < 0.001).
Conclusion: In this study, it was proven that there was a decrease in the number of IL-6 cholesteatoma matrix fibroblasts in all groups of puguntano ethanol extract doses. | en_US |
