Background: The incidence of preoperative anxiety had a high incidence rate, which is largely due to lack of knowledge or information obtained, related to the operation to be performed. Objective: Analyze factors related to anxiety in patients undergoing elective surgery. Method: This research was a multivariate analytic linear regression with predictive conceptual framework. The subjects in this sudy were 111 patients who were scheduled for elective surgery at RSUD Dr. Pirngadi Medan. Subjects were selected by consecutive sampling. Data collection was carried out by conducting short interviews and using the HADS-A instrument. Result: The multivariate final results in the fit model found that gender, comorbid diseases, type of anesthesia in patients undergoing elective surgery were related to anxiety scores with a value of R2 = 61.7%. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between gender, comorbid disease and type of anesthesia with anxiety scores in patients who will undergo elective surgery (p<0.001).en_US
