dc.description.abstract | The rapid development of the world of education has given rise to intense
competition in attracting prospective students. This phenomenon does not only occur
in elementary schools, but also at higher education levels such as universities.
Competitiveness between institutions arise from their efforts to get a sufficient number
of prospective students in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the Higher
Education law. Game theory functions as a numerical model that is used in competitive
situations between two players facing each other. In this research, game theory was
used to examine the competition between the Statistics Diploma and Physics Diploma
study programs at the Vocational Faculty, University of Sumatera Utara. By using
POM QM 5.0 to complete the linear programming method, the optimal value is 12.657.
Where the optimal strategy to be applied to the Statistics Diploma is by applying a
mixed strategy calculation, they are the ratio of graduation strategy and the
proportion of the number of lecturers strategy. While the optimal strategy that can be
applied to the Physics Diploma is also through the application of mixed strategy
calculations, namely the popularity strategy and ratio of graduation strategy | en_US |
