Laminate board is an engineered product that has lignocellulosic material from
wood or non-wood. Belangke bamboo as raw material for laminated boards can
be used as a substitute for wood, which is currently a trend for derivative
products. The addition of long soaking polystyrene treatment is one of the
modifications to laminated boards in increasing the quality of their strength and
durability against attacks by destructive organisms. This study aims to analyze the
physical and mechanical properties of laminated boards from belangke bamboo
with the effect of soaking time of 0 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours, and 24 hours. The
laminated board consists of 3 layers measuring 30 cm long x 15 cm wide x 1.5 cm
thick using 280 g/m2
of isocyanate adhesive which is cold pressed for 24 hours
and conditioned for 10 days. The results of the research on physical properties
showed that the average value of the weight percent gain (WPG) ranged from
7.67-8.33%, the density ranged from 0.79-1.07 g/cm3
, the moisture content ranged
from 11.77-12.67% . The results of the mechanical properties test showed that the
average value of the modulus of elasticity (MOE) test ranged from 127377.74-
140668.34 kgf/cm2
, modulus of rupture (MOR) ranged from 578.95 to 634.01
kgf/cm2
, and the shear strength ranged from 19.60-33.72 kgf/cm2
. Based on the
results of analysis of variance, the best laminate board was found in the 24 hour
immersion treatment.
