Sumber Penghidupan dan Interaksi Masyarakat dengan Harimau Sumatera (Panthera Tigris Sumatrae) di Kawasan Penyangga Taman Nasional Batang Gadis

Abstract

The existence of people living around the buffer zone recently has led to negative interactions in the form of conflicts between humans and wild animals, such as Sumatran tiger. The purpose of this study were to identify the sources of livelihood for the community in the buffer zone of the Batang Gadis National Park (BGNP), to analyze community perceptions of Sumatran tiger disturbance, to calculate the total economic loss suffered by the community around the BGNP. This study used a survey method, data were collected through interviews with selected respondents based on purposive sampling method with snowball technique. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive analysis and statistical analysis of multiple linear regression to find out what factors influence people's dependence on nature. The location of this research is in Hutabaringin Julu Village and Bangkelang Village those BGNP buffer villages. The results of the research show that the source of livelihood for the people living around the BGNP area are from farming. The community's perception of wild animals and Sumatran tigers devided into positive and negative mind. The results of multiple linear regression tests show that the variable that most influences people's dependence on nature is occupation. The four variables used affect people's dependence on nature with an R 2 value of 79.61% in Hutabaringin Julu Village, in Bangkelang Village an R 2 value of 54.61%. The tiger conflict caused an economic loss of IDR 14.400.000 in Hutabaringin Julu Village and Bangkelang Village of IDR 35.280.000.
