The role of the secretary in creating work effectiveness is the effort made by a professional secretary to lighten all of his duties and obtain maximum results for the company. To support the effectiveness of work for secretaries, one of them is by using a simpler method, namely using tools that can make it easier to complete tasks and save more time and energy, so that a secretary can be said to work effectively. The Food Crops and Horticulture Office of North Sumatra Province, which is one of the agencies engaged in public services and serving the community, really needs a professional secretary. A professional secretary will carry out his duties to the best of his ability. The Secretary at the Food Crops and Horticulture Service of North Sumatra Province has a very influential role, in addition to assisting the leadership, the Secretary also serves as the deputy leader or the right hand of the leader so that he needs a secretary who is adept at carrying out his duties properly and quickly. The results of research at the Food Crops and Horticulture Service of North Sumatra Province show that the implementation of work effectiveness at the Food Crops and Horticulture Service of North Sumatra Province is quite good, but in carrying out their duties in the secretary's office is still not optimal. This is because the technology in the office is inadequate so that the secretary's performance becomes hampered and less effective, therefore it is better for the office to improve more modern technology, in order to make it easier for the secretary to carry out his duties effectively.
