dc.description.abstract | Bandwidth management is the process of measuring or controlling the network
traffic communications and the data package on internet network to avoid network
congestion and poor performance on the network. Internet access becomes slow due
to the high of bandwidth traffic. This happens because internet users are increasing
rapidly in the current era of developing technology, everyone uses the internet in
every activity such as communication, learning and business. This problem arises
in the environment of Medical Faculty, Islamic University of North Sumatra during
the lecturing process because the students often access the streaming services
during the lecturing process which makes bandwidth consumption bigger. The steps
taken to overcome this problem are to build a cache proxy and bandwidth
management with the Per Connection Queue (PCQ) algorithm and the use of virtual
machines on a proxy server, one of which can save costs in building such an
expensive server. The analysis was carried out using the Wireshark application
based on Quality of Service (QoS) parameters towards the throughput, delay, jitter,
packet loss and the efficiency as well as the time difference. Testing is done by
accessing YouTube, Higher Education Report Forum and Facebook. Based on the
analysis carried out, it showed that there is a decrease in the traffic and an increase
in the efficiency reaching 58.02% when using a cache proxy. The results of testing
and analysis using Wireshark are carried out by monitoring the density experienced
when doing the searching so that it produces a value on the QoS Throughput
Parameter of 1982 kbps, Packet loss 0.0% in the very good category, QOS Delay is
15.722949 with an average of 6.29 ms in the very good category and the total Jitter
is 0.028658 with an average Jitter of 0.01145 ms in the good category. | en_US |
