University of Sumatera Utara campus has many types of trees scattered
around the campus. Mahogany, tanjung and glodokan are the three most common
tree species found in the campus area. This study aims to determine the potential
of phosphate solubilizing fungi Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla), Tanjung
(Mimusops elengi) and Glodokan (Polyalthia longifolia) stands. Sampling by
making 3 plots in each type measuring 20 x 20 m2
and soil depth of 0-20 cm. In
each plot, 5 sampling points were made. The soil taken in each type is then
composited. Soil chemical analysis which included soil pH, organic-C, available P and CEC was carried out on the soil samples obtained. Isolation of phosphate
solubilizing fungi was carried out using Pikovskaya media. Based on the results of
the study, the total average population of phosphate-solubilizing fungi under the
mahogany stand was 40.72 X 104 CFU/mL, under the headland was 21.53 X 104
CFU/mL, and under the glodokan was 31.12 X 104 CFU/mL. Isolation obtained
12 (twelve) isolates of phosphate solubilizing fungi capable of forming clear
zones. The identification results found 2 genera of phosphate solubilizing fungi
namely Aspergillus and Penicillium.
