Indonesia's climate dynamics are having negative effects for human, such flooding.
The Belawan Watershed, which is a part of one of the watersheds whose carrying
capacity needs to be restored, because frequently flooding as natural disasters. The
purpose of this study is to identify the spatial distribution of flood vulnerability in
the Belawan watershed by using a geographic information system. In this research,
Flood vulnerability areas were identified using scoring and weighting methods. The
flood parameters consist of slope, land height (elevation), rainfall intensity, soil
type, river range (distance from river), and land cover. The results show us that the
Belawan watershed is divided into five classes of flood vulnerability. The results of
the analysis show that the Belawan Watershed has a moderately vulnerable class
of 46,796.85 ha, a vulnerable class 12,602.01 ha, a less vulnerable class 9,054.23
ha, a very vulnerable class 2,651.71 ha, and a non-hazardous class 2,068.50 ha of
the total area in Belawan watershed that is 73,173.30 ha.
