Toba Regency is one of the areas with potential for agroforestry land
development. However, the existing potential has not been well identified
regarding the distribution, profitability, and economic value of land in the study
of meeting the living needs of agroforestry farmers in Toba Regency. This study
aims to determine the potential of agroforestry land in Toba Regency, as well as a
source of information for the Toba Regency government in order to develop
agroforestry in its working area. The method used is direct observation method to
the field and interview method to obtain information related to socio-economic
data of farmers, types of land fill plants, as well as inputs and outputs of
agroforestry land. Of the 15 respondent farmers, implementing agrisilvicultural,
agrosilvopastoral, and agroaquaforestry types were mapped with ArcGIS
software. Forestry plants on the land, such as white teak (Gmelina arborea), pine
(Pinus merkusii). Perennial plants, such as coffee (Coffea arabica). Multipurpose
Tree Species (MPTS), such as candlenut (Aleurites moluccanus), mango
(Mangifera indica), cocoa (Theobroma cacao), and durian (Durio zibethinus).
Agricultural crops, such as corn (Zea mays) and pineapple ((Ananas comosus), as
well as livestock rearing and fish farming were found. Based on profitability
calculations, 15 existing lands are feasible to cultivate and develop with Net
Present Value (NPV) and Equal Annual Equivalent (EAE) > 0 and Profitability
Index (PI) > 1. Farmers income during 10 years of land management ranges from
Rp. 7,450,000 to Rp. 162,719,500, where the largest income of farmers comes
from coffee.
