Analisis Perubahan Garis Pantai di Lokasi Wisata Kecamatan Pantai Cermin Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai
Abstract
Changes in coastal areas are influenced not only by natural factors but also by
human activities in the vicinity. Pantai Cermin Subdistrict is utilized as a tourist
destination, which results in increased pressure on the coastal area due to growing
human activities within it. This has caused environmental damage to the coastal
area in the form of shoreline changes. This study aims to analyze the shoreline
changes at the tourist location of Pantai Cermin Subdistrict, Serdang Bedagai
Regency, using Sentinel-2 satellite imagery over a 5-year period, namely 2017 and
2022, through remote sensing techniques. The analysis of shoreline changes was
conducted using the Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS) available in the
ArcGIS software. The research findings showed an abrasion of 6,16 hectares and
an accretion of 41,01 hectares. Land cover change maps and vegetation density
maps were used to determine the relationship between land cover changes,
vegetation density, and shoreline changes. The analysis results revealed a complex
relationship between shoreline changes, land cover, and vegetation density. Land
cover can influence the speed and intensity of erosion and accretion processes in
coastal areas, ultimately leading to shoreline changes. Coastal areas with dense
vegetation cover have the ability to retain sediment and protect the shoreline from
erosion compared to areas with limited and less dense vegetation cover.
