Community Forest (HKm) is a place for communities to have greater access
to natural resources contained in forests. HKm also provides opportunities for
communities to earn additional income through conservation programs carried out
in the forest. HKm has an important role in preserving forests and improving
environmental conditions. This research was conducted in Aor Nakan I Village,
Kuta Tinggi and Sibongkaras, Pakpak Bharat Regency, North Sumatra. The
purpose of this study is to identify community perceptions of the existence of
Community Forests, identify community perceptions of Community Forest
management, identify perceptions of community dependence on Community
Forests. The data collection method is carried out by observation, interviews and
documentation and is carried out descriptively to identify public perceptions of
HKm management activities and the results will be used to analyze public
perception data on HKm management activities using calculations with Likert
scale. The majority of respondents showed a positive level of satisfaction with the
results of HKm management activities. Forest Farmer Group (KTH) stated that
HKm management has provided significant benefits, both from income,
environment, and social, Respondents who have adequate access to information
and knowledge on HKm management activities and have open communication with
FMUs tend to have a more positive perception and forests are a source KTH's main
income in meeting the needs of life.
