Pengaruh Pemberian Tepung Maggot Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) Menggunakan Media Biakan Lumpur Sawit Fermentasi terhadap Kualitas Telur Puyuh

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) maggot flour using fermented palm oil sludge culture media on the quality of quail eggs. This research was conducted in September - December 2022 at the Technology Research Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra and quail cattle pens on Jalan Limau Manis, Tanjung Morawa District. The design used in this study was RAL (Completely Randomized Design) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment was the replacement of fish meal with BSF maggot flour, namely: Treatment A (0% BSF maggot and 12% fish meal), treatment B (4% BSF maggot and 9% fish meal), treatment C (8% BSF maggot and 6% fish meal), treatment D (12% BSF maggot and 3% fish meal) and E treatment (16% BSF maggot and 0% fish meal). The parameters observed in this study were the color of the yolk, the weight of the eggshell, the fat content of the yolk and the protein content of the egg. The results showed that each treatment had no significant effect (P>0.05) on egg yolk color, eggshell weight, yolk fat content and egg protein content. The conclusion of this study is that the use of 16% BSF maggot flour can replace the use of fish meal and has a good effect on the quality of quail eggs.
