Yellowt Selar Fish (S. leptolepis) is one of the pelagic fish species landed at the Labu Beach Fishery Port, belonging to the Carangidae family. It is characterized by a long yellow line from the upper part of the eye to the tail stem. The objectives of this study were to determine the biological and economic aspects and to assess the utilization status of yellowtail scad in the waters of Deli Serdang Regency. The research was conducted from September to November 2022. The Schaefer model was used to calculate the maximum sustainable yield (MSY), maximum economic yield (MEY), and optimum effort (OA) for yellowtail scad. The results showed that the maximum effort was 4,827 trips, the optimum catch was 3,744,600 tons, and the optimum economic profit was Rp 190,971,375. The utilization rate of yellowtail scad in 2020 was 71%, in 2021 it was 142%, indicating overfishing, and there was a 23% decrease in 2022.en_US
