Penggunaan Complete Feed Berbasis Limbah Durian (Durio zibethinus) terhadap Perpormance Domba Lokal Jantan

Abstract

Durian waste has the potential to be used as animal feed, but further processing is needed to increase its nutritional value. This study aims to determine the effect of complete feed based on durian waste on the performance of local male sheep. The feed used in this study was a complete feed based on durian waste (Durio zibethinus). This research was conducted at the Animal Husbandry study program at the University of North Sumatra, Padang Bulan, Kec. Medan Baru, Medan City, North Sumatra in November 2022 to January 2023. The research design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments 4 replications to obtain 16 sheep with an average body weight of 12.51 ± 0.71. The treatment consisted of P0 = 60% elephant grass without durian waste; P1 = 20% durian skin + 20% durian seeds + 20% elephant grass; P2 = 30% durian skin + 20% durian seeds + 10% elephant grass; P3 = 40% durian skin + 20% durian seeds. The parameters studied were feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion and feed cost per gain. The results showed that the use of durian peels and durian seeds in the complete feed had a very significant (P<0.01) effect on dry matter consumption and daily body weight gain and had no significant effect (P>0.05) on conversion feed and feed cost per gain. The conclusion of this study is the use of durian skins and durian bii in complete feed can increase consumption of dry abhan and daily body weight gain of local male sheep with the best level being 30% durian skin + 20% durian seeds + 10% elephant grass.
