dc.description.abstractIndonesia is a country that uses fossil fuels as the main fuel. The use of fossil fuels is increasing due to the increasing population which causes scarcity of fossil fuel sources. To reduce the scarcity of fossil fuels by providing renewable energy sources to meet the needs of the Indonesian population. One of the renewable energy sources is bioethanol. Bioethanol serves as a substitute for fossil fuels. Bioethanol can be obtained from plants such as sugarcane, cassava and corn which produce high levels of fiber, starch and sugar. The use of corn leaves as one of the biomass for making bioethanol and also to reduce postharvest waste from harvesting corn and also corn leaves has quite high cellulose, lignin, and hemicellulose levels. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of acid volume on the glucose level produced and to determine the level of ethanol produced based on the variation of the specified fermentation time. The results showed that the highest average glucose level was found in 600 ml HCl volume of 9.2%, while the lowest average glucose level was found in 700 ml volume of 8.45%. The highest average ethanol content on the third day of 600 ml volume fermentation was 6.269%, while the lowest average ethanol content on the third day of 700 ml fermentation was 6.218%. With this it can be concluded that the higher the volume of acid given, the lower the glucose content produced and vice versa and the highest percentage of ethanol content was found in the third day of fermentation with a volume of 600 ml of 6.269%.en_US
