Potato (Solanum tuberosum L) is a type of horticultural plant which is consumed by its tubers. To increase agricultural production, effective facilities and infrastructure are needed to support the production process, which includes pre-harvest to post-harvest, one of which is the development of agricultural tools and machinery. The purpose of this study was to test several propulsion forces on a mechanical potato cutting machine using test parameters such as the effective capacity of the tool, yield and economic analysis of the tool using the Randomized Block Design method with the results showing that the combustion engine is the best driving force with an effective tool capacity of 174.95 kg/hour and a yield of 92%. With an economic analysis of fuel motors, the BEP/break-even point will be achieved if 2,436.492 kg/year of cutting potatoes have been cut, and meet the criteria for proper use/profitability because the resulting NPV value is > 0, which is 6% NPV value, which is Rp. 1,137,892 .217.33/year and 5% NPV, which is IDR 1,174,252,180.56/year. With the IRR value on this tool is 43.27%.
