Simangayat River and Samak Reservoir are two waters that have different
characteristics. Both of these waters are inhabited by the Chinese Pond Mussel
(Anodonta woodiana). The purpose of this study was to determine population
density, growth patterns, growth parameters, and the relationship between
population density of the Chinese Pond Mussel (A. woodiana) and water quality.
The research method used is purposive sampling method. The research took place
from September to November 2022. Chinese Pond Mussel obtained from the two
study locations had a total number of 1456. The results showed that the population
density in the Simangayat River was 33,870 ind/ha and in the Samak Reservoir
3,703 ind/ha. The long frequency distribution of the Chinese Pond Mussel
11-202 mm. The growth pattern at both stations is allometric negative. The results
of the analysis of the growth parameters of the Chinese Pond Mussel growth at
station 1 consist of a growth coefficient (K) of 1,51/year, asymptotic length (L∞) of
144.7 mm, theoretical age of shells at zero length (t0) of -1,17 year. The results of
the growth parameters in the Samak Reservoir are the K value, which is 1.3/year,
L∞ is 148.3 mm, t0 is -1.10 year. The results of the relationship between the
population density of the Chinese Pond Mussel (A. woodiana) and water quality
showed 2 parameters that were positively correlated, namely currents of 0.607 and
pH of 0.683. While the parameters that have a negative correlation level are
temperature -0.580, depth -0.401, brightness -0.201, DO (Dissolved Oxygen) -
0.277, and C-Organic -0.384.
