Caru fish (Megalaspis cordyla) is a small pelagic fish that lives in
schooling in the surface layers of the waters. This fish is one of the fish resources
caught by fishermen who land at the Fish Landing Site (TPI) of Labu Beach,
North Sumatra Province. The purpose of this study was to determine the analysis
of fish growth, mortality and exploitation rate of caru in the waters of Deli
Serdang regency. This research was conducted in September – November 2022.
The caru fish that were observed during the study had a class distribution of
120,5−423,5 mm in length, the growth pattern of caru fish during the study was
negative allometric, based on the condition factor values of the male caru fish
which were classified as flat while the female caru were classified as less flat. The
length of the first caught caru male caru was 189.91 mm and the female caru was
238.53 mm and the length at first maturity of male and female caru were 343.64
mm and 259.84 mm. The exploitation rate of caru fish is 0.76, this is classified
into the category of growth overfishing and has experienced overfishing
