Indonesia is one of the many countries that carry out Whipray fishing activities in large quantities, it can even be said to be one of the largest. However, the lack of information regarding the species of stingrays caught and landed at TPI Pantai Labu resulted in a decrease in monitoring of the number of catches of Whipray. The purpose of this study was to determine the genetic identification of Whipray (Maculabatis sp.) using the DNA Barcoding method and to determine the phylogenetic relationship between the species of Whipray (Maculabatis sp.) landed at TPI Pantai Labu, Deli Serdang. This research was conducted in September – November 2022. The research methods used included the stages of sampling, DNA extraction, DNA amplification, DNA electrophoresis, DNA sequencing and phylogenetic analysis. The results showed that the COI nucleotides of the star ray samples matched to Genbank's BLAST had similarities to the Maculabatis macrura species with a similarity rate of 97,64%. According to IUCN data, star rays are included in the threatened category (endangered).en_US
