The tea factory produces waste in the form of tea dust which can be used
as a mixture of palm shell fuel into pellet fuel. So far, the tea factory uses shells
from the same parent PKS as the main fuel. If the shells in PKS are not available,
they have to buy from other parties at prices that increase every year. This study
aims to determine the characteristics, namely water content, calorific value,
density, porosity, combustion temperature and yield of combustion residue from
tea processing dust pellets and palm oil shells. This research method used a non factorial completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 3 repetitions. the
results of testing the characteristics of the utilization of processed dust pellets and
palm shells obtained 7,54%-16,17% moisture content value, 3.937 kcal/kg-4.125
kcal/kg calorific value, 1.025,64 kg/m3
-1.276,33 kg/m3
value density, 46,05%-
63,18% porosity value, 986.03°C-1.055°C combustion temperature value,
1046.89 gr/minute-1496.78 gr/minute combustion rate value, 1.71%- 4.46% yield
value of combustion residue.
