dc.description.abstractThis study aims to analyze the intrinsic elements and social symptoms found in the Hikayat Gangsa and Putri Malu. This study uses a method of data collection is a literature study. The source of the data in this study is the story text of the Hikayat Gangsa and Putri Malu. The theory used in conducting this research is structural theory which is an intrinsic element and theory of sociology of literature. The results of this study are: there is an intrinsic element in the Tale of Gangsa and Putri Malu. Covering the theme is humility as an act of problem solving. The flow is forward. Elements of characters and characterizations, namely Mrs. Miah is strong, Grandpa Gangsa is fair, Gangsa is smart, Uwak the owner of the cottage likes to help, Aunt in the River is generous, King Banjit is wise, Putri Malu is gentle, Giant is greedy, Commander is creative, Soldiers don't care, Elephants don't care, King Kasui didn't care. The elements of the background are the time setting, the place setting, the atmosphere setting. Theory and data analysis based on sociology literature contain facts, events, behavior, and social changes which can be called social phenomena in the Hikayat Gangsa Dan Putri Malu, including; (1.) The social facts in this saga are education which is shown by the strong desire of Gangsa to study humility, (2.) The social events that occur in this saga are humility, preparation of war strategies, the war of the Giants and the Flood Country, the success Land of Flood against Giants, care, calamity, and peace. (3) The social behavior that occurs in this saga is responsibility, helping, usurping the rights of others, respect, cooperation, giving magic water, and giving advice (4.) The social changes that occur in this saga are shown in Gangsa which was originally an ordinary citizen turned into a figure of a prince, the people of Negeri Banjit who initially lived in peace experienced a change in their life because they had to move their place of residence due to an attacking giant. However, the change temporarily returned to normal life after Gangsa and the soldiers managed to defeat the giants, the people of Kasui Country experienced a change. At first, their peaceful and secure life had to be threatened because they themselves opened new farms in the elephant traffic area, but after Gangsa suggested closing the farm and finally it was closed which then a change occurred where the people of Negeri Kasui returned to normal life and returned to peace and security as well as changes in Gangsa, Banjit Community, and Kasui who initially did not know became aware and aware of humble knowledge as an action to solve problems without using muscle.en_US
