This undergraduate thesis is the result of research on the dynamics of PT. Textile Pardede in
Purwodadi Village, Sunggal Subdistrict, Deli Serdang Regency. Formulation of the problems are
the background of the establishment of PT. Textile Pardede in 1953, the dynamics of PT Textile
Pardede in 1961-1980, and the reasons why PT Textile Pardede was closed in 1991. The objectives
of writing this undergraduate thesis are to explain the background of the
establishment of PT. Textile Pardede in 1953, to explain the dynamics of PT. Textile Pardede in
1961-1980s and to explain why PT Textile Pardede was closed in 1991. The research uses a
historical research method, namely: heuristics (data collection), critical verification
(data authenticity), interpretation (source study), and historiography (history writing). In
collecting data, the research employs the method of library research and field studies. Library
study is done on Literature in the form of books from the Universitas Sumatera Utara Library, and
field studies is carried out by conducting site observations and interviews with informants. From
this research, it is found that PT Textile Pardede was first established on September I I, 1953
on Jalan Bantam no 21 Medan. It moved to Purwodadi Village, Jalan Binjai km 10.8 on June 30, 1961
for it was growing rapidly, where there were many orders for singlet and blanket
products. PT Textile Pardede played an important role for the surrounding community, because with
the presence of PT Textile Pardede, it opened job opportunities and helped the
community's economy. In 1991. PT Textile Pardede did not produce textile products anymore. Several
factors led to the closure of Pardede textile factory, namely: internal or internal factors such as
a decline in marketing which impacted capital and employee performance. There were external
factors such as rising prices of raw materials i.e. cotton, and the emergence of new textile
businesses which have an impact on sales or marketing from PT Textile Pardede, they lowered
production prices and finally PT Textile Pardede became bankrupt. The company building
was shifted into a meeting hall for Dr Tumpal D.orianus Pardede.
