dc.description.abstract | Background: Various imaging tests are performed to confirm abnormalities in the
temporal bone caused by CSOM. Preoperative CT scan able to identify pathological
abnormalities from intraoperative findings. However, temporal CT scan still not widely
accepted and used diagnostically for CSOM cases.
Objective: This research aims to determine suitability of temporal CT scan with
intraoperative findings of tympanomastoidectomy in CSOM patients.
Method: This is an analytical study with a prospective cohort design which is
conducted at H. Adam Malik Hospital and Murni Teguh Hospital Medan, carried out
in January-October 2022. A conformity assessment test was carried out using Cohen's
kappa.
Results: CT Scan findings, found sclerotic tissue in 30 people (100%), granulation in
18 people (60%), cholesteatoma in 13 people (43.3%), erosion ossicles in 11 people
(36.7%) and facial canal erosion in 2 people (6.7%).
Conclusions: There was a weak concordance between CT and intraoperative findings
for granulation tissue with kappa value of 0.286 and p = 0.025. There was excellent
concordance between CT and intraoperative findings for cholesteatoma with kappa
value of 0.862 and p value <0.001. There was perfect concordance between CT scan
and intraoperative findings for ossicular erosion with kappa value of 1and p value
<0.001. There was perfect concordance between CT scan and intraoperative findings
for facial canal erosion tissue with kappa value of 1 and p value <0.001. | en_US |
