Agricultural Extension as a farmer empowerment system is a non-formal
education system for farming families that aims to assist farmers in improving
their technical skills, knowledge, developing a more positive attitude change and
building self-reliance in managing their agricultural land. Agricultural extension
as an intermediary in the technology transfer process, the main task and extension
services are to facilitate the learning process, provide technology information,
input information and input-output prices and market information. This study aims
to analyze the performance of Field Agricultural Extension (FAE) and analyze the
factors that affect the performance of Field Agricultural Extension (FAE) in Karo
Regency. The analytical model used in this study is descriptive analysis by
calculating the Work Achievement Value (WAV) from the Self Evaluation Value
(SEV) of each instructor to see the instructor's work performance and multiple
linear regression analysis to see the factors that affect the performance of the
agricultural instructor in the field. in Karo Regency. The data used are primary
data collected through direct interviews using questionnaires to selected
respondents. The results showed that the Work Achievement Value (WAP) of
Field Agricultural Extension (FAE) in Karo Regency was 76.14 with a good
category. Factors that affect the performance of agricultural extension workers in
Karo Regency are age, formal education, training, distance from work area,
number of assisted villages and number of groups assisted by extension workers,
while working period has no significant effect on agricultural instructor
performance
