dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study was to identify and analyze the potential of feed
resources for the development of cattle and to formulate a strategy for developing
a cattle business based on feed resources in Mandailing Natal District, North
Sumatra. This research was conducted in Mandailing Natal District, North
Sumatra. The method used in this research is a survey method with two stages,
namely 1) analyzing feed resources as a potential for cattle development and 2)
formulating a strategy for developing a cattle business that can be implemented in
the Mandailing Natal District, North Sumatra. The data population is the
Mandailing Natal district and from this population 10 areas were sampled. The
data collection method was carried out using 2 methods, namely: 1) primary data
by taking data directly from a predetermined sample of 10 regions for each sample
and 2) secondary data taken from data from the Department of Agriculture and
BPS of Mandailing Natal Regency. In the first stage, the data were obtained
descriptively in the form of Location Question (LQ) analysis data, production of
food crop waste, production of forage for livestock, and analysis of Ruminant
Livestock Population Capacity Increase (KPPTR) while the second stage carried
out SWOT analysis, Strategic Factor Analysis Internal (IFAS), External Strategic
Factor Analysis (EFAS), and development strategy decision making. The results
showed that the potential for feed resources in Mandailing Natal Regency, North
Sumatra, came from inter-plant forage (orange, oil palm) forage in paddy fields,
agricultural crop waste and agricultural/agricultural processing waste with a total
feed production of 41,028,554 Kg Bk /year and can accommodate 14,987 ST. Based
on the potential of feed resources, the Mandailing Natal region of North Sumatra
is a potential area for the development of cattle livestock. Strategies that can be
used for the development of cattle in the Mandailing Natal area of North Sumatra
are; building a cattle feed processing industry by utilizing feed resources, industrial
raw materials, geographic location and government support | en_US |
