A Description of Mengket Rumah Mbaru in Karonese Culture

Abstract

This thesis is entitled Ceremony of Mengket Rumah Mbaru Karo Ethnic. The meaning of home for the Karo people is not just a place to live, but a symbol of prosperity and achievement for a married individual. The writing method used in this study was to collect data from several books, the internet and the karo community. The results of this writing can be useful for the reader, namely the utterances conveyed contain advice, prayers and hopes for the homeowners so that they are given a better life in the new house, some of the process of the Mengket Rumah Mbaru tradition have begun to shift due to the omission of several event processes because of the notion that this tradition is too wordy and no longer relevant to be carried out today, but in general the value content, meaning and function as well as local wisdom in carrying out this tradition can still be maintained and preserved so that the younger generation can still enjoy the ceremony.
