dc.description.abstractThis final project discusses the types of traditions that exist in Japan during the New Year's celebration. The author chose this title besides wanting to know the traditions of New Year's celebrations in Japan, also because the traditions of New Year's celebrations like in Japan do not exist and are not found in Indonesia. The New Year Festival in Japan is an annual festival that is celebrated not only for fun, but also as a tribute to the gods. New Year in Japan is celebrated twice, which is called Oshogatsu and Koshougatsu. To welcome the coming of the new year, various activities are carried out, namely cleaning activities, installing decorations, and also making food. There are five types of activities carried out at the time of welcoming and celebrating the new year, namely joya no kane, hatsumode, oosoji, Kadomatsu, and Shimenawa. There are also various types of food during New Year's celebrations, namely toshikoshi soba, kagami mochi, and osechi ryori. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method based on literature studies from various sources and printed and electronic book literature.en_US
