The analysis of the levels of sulfur dioxide (SO2) in ambient air has been carried
out at the Dinas Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan Provinsi Sumatera Utara. The sulfur
dioxide (SO2) content of the ambient air was carried out using the pararosanilin method
and then the absorbance was measured using a UV-Visible Spectrophotometer at a
wavelength of 550 nm, a concentration of 33.1938 μg/m3 was obtained, for sample
2023/UA/02/36 a concentration of 38.0301 μg/m3 was obtained and for sample
2023/UA/02/37 a concentration of 35.2157 μg/m3 was obtained. Based on Government
Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia No. 22 of 2021 concerning Implementation of
Environmental Protection and Management, the maximum level of sulfur dioxide (SO2) in
ambient air for 1 hour is 150 μg/m3. The results of the analysis show that the analyzed
ambient air samples meet the national ambient air quality standards.
