dc.description.abstract | Indonesia's population growth is increasing every year making Indonesia the country with the
fourth most populations in the world. The large number of residents makes an increase in the
number of job participation which demands the provision of job opportunities more broadly.
Meanwhile, until now the employment opportunity has not been offset by the increase in the
number of the labor force. Small Industries are an effort in improving the quality of life in the
midst of the difficulty of getting a job with the increasing number of population and a lack of
skills. This research is located in Melati I Village, Perbaungan District, Serdang Bedagai
Regency. The method used in this study is a qualitative method which aims to describe how the
contribution of the small brick industry to the socio-economic conditions of the people of Melati
I Village, Perbaungan District. Information and data obtained by researchers through in-depth
observation and interviews with 7 informants consisting of 5 people from the Melati I Village
who work in small brick industries, owner of the small brick industry, and representatives of the
Melati I Village. Based on the results of the research conducted, The small brick industry
contributed well, many people in the Melati I Village rely on working in the small brick industry
because it is difficult to find job with their limitations of education and skills. By working in this
industry they are able to fulfill their needs, almost every worker is registered with BPJS, the
education of workers' children is fulfilled up to high school and has a decent place to live.
Despite the good contribution of this industry to society, researchers suggested to the local
governments to pay more attention to the needs of people, especially those who work depending
on the small brick industry, Melati I Village. | en_US |
