The research topic in this thesis is to examine an activity that is "hedon" in
students in the city of Medan. The "hedon" activity in question is one of the
clubbing activities (the world of glitter) which is currently a phenomenon for
young people in the city of Medan. Students are the focus of researchers as
objects in this study because students are a generation that has great potential to
receive the impact of clubbing activities (the world of glitter). The purpose of this
research is to see how clubbing becomes a lifestyle for students. This then raises
questions about how do clubbing activities students view clubbing activities (the
world of glitter)? sparkling world)? So that research is needed systematically.
This study uses ethnographic qualitative research methods. The data
collection process is carried out by observing, interviewing and using
documentation. The researcher chose students in the city of Medan to become
informants and the focus of this research was that the authors tried to map
ethnographically how clubbing activities became a lifestyle of hedonism that
occurred among students in the city of Medan. The view of clubbing students
towards clubbing (the glittering world) is not a good thing, but behind that this
activity also has a positive impact on the audience. The motivating factors for a
student to do clubbing activities are the factor of oneself who is curious to try new
things, the factor of inviting friends, and the factor of a broken home. Clubbing is
one of the lifestyles adopted by teenagers in urban areas, especially students. The
students who do clubbing activities make this activity as a way for them to get
entertainment and fun. However, for ordinary people, clubbing is synonymous
with rah-rah activities and will have a negative impact on the audience.
Everything that students do is their choice, and they will face all the consequences
themselves. According to students who do clubbing activities, what they do is not
always filled with negative things.
