Tingkat Pengetahuan Tentang Dampak Merokok terhadap Kelainan Rongga Mulut pada Supir di Terminal Bus Kecamatan Medan Amplas
Abstract
Smoking habits have an impact on oral health. Smokers' lack of knowledge about the dangers of smoking is one of the causes of the high incidence of oral disorders due to smoking which reduces the quality of life and can lead to death. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge about the impact of smoking on oral cavity disorders in drivers at the Medan Amplas District bus terminal. This type of research is descriptive with cross sectional design. The population is the drivers who are at the Medan Amplas District bus terminal. The sample size is 68 people. The sampling technique was purposive sampling method with inclusion criteria for drivers around the Medan Amplas District bus terminal, smoking habits, willingness to be respondents and exclusion criteria, namely uncooperative respondents. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire. Data analysis used univariate analysis which was processed computerized. The results showed that the level of knowledge of respondents about the impact of smoking on oral disorders was good at 42.6%, 23.5% sufficient, and 33.9% lacking. Respondents who know smoking can cause halitosis by 73.5%, xerostomia 64.7%, periodontal disease 47.1%, leukoplakia 41.2%, oral squamous cell carcinoma 77.9%, nicotine stomatitis 38.2%, smoker's melanosis 61.8%, and hairy tongue 61.8%. The conclusion of this study is that the level of knowledge of drivers at the Medan Amplas District Bus Terminal about the impact of smoking on oral cavity abnormalities is generally good.
