| dc.description.abstract | Inside our mouth contains many microorganism, one of them is Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This bacteria cause many infection that can lead to systemic complications and bacteremia. To reduce infection risk of S.aureus is with antibiotic usage. One of the biodiversity that has potential as antibiotic and can be developed as a traditional medicine is ridged gourd (Luffa acutangula (L.) Roxb.). Ridged gourd is widely consumed by the community as a dish. Previous study has proven ridged gourd contains flavonoid, tannin, and saponin which can inhibit the growth of bacteria. This type of research is experimental laboratorium with post-test only control group design. Ridged gourd extract is made using maseration method and antibacterial test of ridged gourd is analyzed by one-way ANOVA test with post-hoc LSD. This study shows that there is inhibition for every concentration shown by diameter of ridged gourd extract. 25% ridged gourd extract has average diameter of 10.8 mm, 12.5% ridged gourd extract has average diameter of 9.4 mm, 6.25% ridged gourd extract has average diameter of 8 mm, 3.125% ridged gourd extract has average diameter of 6.9 mm. The conclusion of this study is ridged gourd extract has antibacterial activity with minimum inhibition concentration of 25% against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria growth. | en_US |
