dc.description.abstract | Rujak is one of the oldest dishes and can also be said as an archipelago culinary
where the processing of spices and its contents will differ in each region. The term
traditional is a habit that has been carried out for generations, inherited from the
ancestors, so it will be difficult to change. One of the famous rujak traders has long
been a rujak trader at the crossroads located in Percut Sei Tuan, Deli Serdang
Regency. It is estimated that it has been around for about 30 years while maintaining
the characteristics of the flashlight which is the uniqueness of this Rujak Simpang
Amate. Apart from the characteristic of the flashlight that is maintained, the unique
taste that can be maintained by the seller makes it a plus, where the salad seasoning
will be ground when a buyer orders it. The use of stone bananas in one of the spices
maintains the authenticity of the recipe and guava which is the prima donna in the
Rujak Simpang Amate. At the time of observation, the researchers found conditions
experienced by some traders whose livelihood only came from selling rujak with
uncertain income. However, even so, it was found that traders stated that they felt
sufficient to meet the daily needs of their families. The author's interest in rujak
traders is due to the persistence of rujak traders in meeting their economic needs
where the products produced are culinary that are classified as traditional and are
sought after by the community. The purpose of this study was to determine the
socio-economic conditions of rujak traders at the Tembung junction, Percut Sei
Tuan Deli Serdang District. The method used in this research is descriptive
qualitative research. In this study, researchers used 8 informants consisting of 1 core
informant, 5 main informants, and 2 additional informants. Data collection
techniques used are library research, observation, interviews, documentation. The
results of this study indicate that rujak traders at the junction of mates fall into the
category of prosperous families II, seen from how most families have been able to
carry out prosperous indicators I where families can meet basic needs,
psychological needs but have not been able to meet developmental needs (saving
and obtain information). The social welfare of Rujak Simpang Abang traders can
also be seen from several aspects such as income, the traders in a day get a turnover
of less than IDR 200,000, the food for the traders is well-sufficient, the clothing of
the traders can afford to buy underwear once a year, housing, 3 people the informant
already has a private house while 2 informants are still contracting, in terms of
education there are no difficulties in meeting the needs of children, the health of the
5 rujak traders does not register themselves in the health insurance provided by the
government, in terms of recreation the five informants on average they take their
time to walk to the nearest amusement park. | en_US |
