Penentuan Kadar Lemak dan Kadar Protein pada Pupuk Organik Cair di Balai Standardisasi dan Pelayanan Jasa Industri (BSPJI) Medan
Abstract
The determination of protein content and fat content in liquid organic fertilizer by soxhlet and kjeldahl methods has been carried out at the Industrial Standardization and Service Center (BSPJI) Medan. With the aim of knowing the method used to analyze liquid organic fertilizer and to determine the percentage of fat and protein content in liquid organic fertilizer. The method used to analyze fat content is the Soxhlet method and protein content is the kjeldahl method where there are 3 stages, namely deconstruction, distillation and titration. Determination of fat content is done by hydrolyzing the sample using 25% HCl on a hotplate until boiling then filtered using filter paper. The sample was neutralized using hot distilled water and dried for 24 hours, then extracted using n-Hexane and heated in the oven for 3 hours and then weighed. Determination of protein content was carried out by deconstructing the sample using H2SO4p.a with selenium catalyst, and distilled with 40% NaOH then titrated with 0.1N HCl. The value of fat content obtained in liquid organic fertilizer samples averaged 0.0052% and 0.0036%. The value of protein content in liquid organic fertilizer samples averaged 57.4059% and 58.6100%.
