Sepak Bola dan Politik Studi Kasus: Karo United dan Batak United di Kota Medan
Abstract
This article is entitled Football and Politics Case Study: Karo United and
Batak United in Medan City. This research aims to describe and explain how
football clubs are formed based on ethnicity, and how these ethnic clubs can
maintain their respective clubs to enter leagues that are held both in the city of
Medan and even on a national scale. This study also aims to describe how the
relationship between football and politics. The method used in this research is a
qualitative approach. The author uses data collection techniques in the form of in depth interviews using an interview guide, as well as observations on data collection
documents. The results of the study explain that in order to maintain a football club
formed based on ethnicity, a strict recruitment system is carried out. Karo United
and Batak United football clubs are football clubs that already have a good rating
in the world of football in the city of Medan. Although these two football clubs
were formed based on ethnicity, namely Karo and Batak clubs, these football clubs
are more concerned with playing skills in the system to pass the selection process
in the Recruitment process. and Batak. The purpose of forming this football club is
because they want to maintain their ethnicity through football. Supporters are
considered as the thirteenth player when playing because they have an important
role through supporters then the jargon, the logo, or the picture of the supported
club can be seen clearly. The jargon of Karo United is Rambas Kerina while Batak
United is Ribak Sude. Politics and football go hand in hand and need each other.
Both have something in common, namely a match that wantsto win. The difference
between the two is the goal. The goal of football is to winthe /cup while politics is
power.
