This reserch examines the existence and changes in Marsidudu traditional care wich is used as
Postpartum Care in the city of Medan. The reason researching this topic is because the researcher
sees the exsistance of the Marsidudu tribe in Medan city.
This study used a descriptive qualitative method with field work starting from the beginning of the
Thesis preparation to collecting additional data for 5 mounth. Collection techniques were in the from of
Direct observation and indepth interviews using interview guids.
The informants of this study consisted of two, namely the initial informant and also the key informant
Where the basic informant was a person who pointed out the researcher to someone who used the
Marsidudu tradition, the basic informant of the researcher was also key informant because he also
used the Marsidudu tradition. While the Marsidudu tradition as postnatal care.
The results of the study show that Marsidudu is still used as postnatal care option by seme womanWho
are ethnically Mandailing in Medan Amplas. Also the belief in Marsidudu, coupled with the education
given by parents and relatives about Marsidudu. Marsidudu wich is done through the smoking technique
by burning the existing ingredients. Marsidudu is carried out with the intention of triying to heal woman
after giving birth during the puerperium such as drying the uterus, removing dirty blood and helping to
warm the body by usingnatural ingreadients that are mixed according to existing regulations.
