    Analisis Unsur Nikel (Ni) dan Tembaga (Cu) dan Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) pada Air Limbah Pabrik Kelapa Sawit (PKS) Riau

    Abstract
    Atomic Absortion Spectrophotometer (AAS) or Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) is an instrument for analyzing metals including: Pb, Ni, Cd, Fe, Zn, and Cu where the basis of measurement is the measurement of the absorption of light by an atom. The light that is not absorbed is transmitted and converted into a measurable electric beam. Copper and Nickel are heavy metals that are usually found in Palm Oil Plantation (PKS) waste water. Testing for Copper and Nickel metals in Palm Oil Plantation (PKS) wastewater by atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) aims to determine the levels of these metals in PKS waste. The results obtained in Riau PKS wastewater contained total and dissolved Nickel metal content of 0.5277 mg/ L and 0.5281 mg/L after five dilutions and the total and dissolved copper metal is -1.1560 mg/L and -1.1529 mg/L after five dilutions, the results are so small that it will not have a big effect on the the community. Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) is the amount of oxygen needed to chemically oxidize (degrade) organic materials in water. This causes organic matter to be chemically decomposed using a strong oxidizing agent under hot and acidic conditions using silver sulfate (Ag2SO4) as a catalyst. The results of the analysis of COD levels in the Palm Oil Mill Waste samples in two samples using the UV-Vis method were 319.68 mg/L and 322.22 mg/L. BOD is the amount of dissolved oxygen needed by microorganisms to decompose organic matter under aerobic conditions. The BOD value does not indicate the actual amount of organic matter, but only measures the amount of oxygen needed by microorganisms to decompose the organic materials contained in the wastewater. The results of the analysis of BOD levels in two samples of palm oil mill effluent using the iodometric titration method, namely 107.07 mg/L and 96.97 mg/L.
